General Information


Waves is an adult Masters swim program for those 18 years and older at Endeavor Health Fitness & Wellness Center (formerly Edward-Elmhurst Health and Fitness Center) in Woodridge, IL.



Naperville Waves Swim Club are those Waves swimmers and independent swimmers who register annually with United States Masters Swimming, indicating NWSC as their workout group.

Waves practices are technique, distance, sprint, or stroke focused, and are also divided by ability: advanced, intermediate, and beginner.

 

Advanced swimmers swim 2800+ yards in an hour, with higher intensity sets.

The interval base is 1:40 or faster/100 yards of freestyle.

 

Intermediate swimmers can swim 2200 to 2800 yards in an hour.

The interval base is 1:40-2:10/100 yards of freestyle.

Swimmers should have knowledge of all 4 strokes.

 

Beginner swimmers can swim from 1600 to 2200 yards in an hour.

The interval base is 2:10+/100 yards of freestyle.

Swimmers at this level should be competent in freestyle and backstroke

and have some knowledge of breaststroke.

Waves is not a learn-to-swim program.

For swim instruction before joining Waves, EHFW offers classes

for new swimmers and those needing technique work.

Waves has 3 sessions

(4 month trimesters) per year:

 

Jan 1 - Apr 30 

May 1 - Aug 31 

 Sep 1 - Dec 31

 

Sign up for the upcoming session begins 2 to 3 weeks prior to the start date and will close when the maximum number of participants is reached.


Fees for each trimester (there is NO monthly payment option): 


Members of EHFW - $130 

Nonmembers of EHFW - $260

Benefits of Joining NWSC:


  • Swim with NWSC at State and other meets - team caps and relay fees included
  • Have access to a growing online library of workouts
  • Helps sponsor the Pete Bardak Memorial meet
  • Attend any offsite practices paid for by NWSC - additional fee may be required
  • Attend NWSC social events and outings, and have the opportunity to participate in any team service projects
  • Support masters swimming, and the structure and organization that USMS provides for adults to swim for fun, friendship, and fellowship



Membership requirements:

 

1)   Swimmers must be 18 years or older.

2)   Swimmers must register annually with USMS, with NWSC as their workout group. The current annual fee for USMS registration is $70.


Donations to NWSC are always appreciated, and will be put towards offsite practice rental fees and social events, as well as meet relay fees and State meet participant swim caps.
